Honda Civic metallic silver
Hi guys, this is an intermediate detail on a 2 years old Honda Civic in metallic silver. The process started with removing some dried polish residue on the front windscreen trim. Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner(4:1) was used together with their Triple Duty Brush.
The wheels were cleaned with the following:
Wheels - Meguiar's Wheel Brightener (4:1)
Tires - Meguiar's Super Degreaser (4:1)
Wheel Wells - Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner (4:1)
As the car was quite clean, I skipped the pre-soak and pressure washer rinse, and proceeded to wash the car straight away with the two bucket method and Meguiar’s Hyper Wash as shampoo. As you can see below the bucket on the left was the rinse water bucket, it still looks quite clear after washing the whole car.
Osren’s tar remover is sprayed on the front and rear bumpers and near the fenders, it was left to dwell and wiped off.
Whole car is clayed with Perma Glass No.2 Clay, and also, not much contaminants on the car. This is most probably due to the owner wiping down the car everyday with water, and contaminants don’t have time to bond to the paint.
Pad and polish combo of choice was,
Two areas on both front doors below the side mirror had watermark etchings, which couldn’t be removed with the pad and polish combo above. You can faintly see it in the picture below but it’s more visible in person.
So I used Meguiar’s #83 Dual-Action Cleaner/Polish on a foam pad and worked it in by hand until the watermark etchings were removed. This of course left it’s own straight line marring as seen below.
The marring is then removed with the same machine polishing step.
After polishing the whole car, I realized that not only the front windscreen trim had dried polish residue, almost every edge has them.
So I went around the car wiping them off with a damp microfiber cloth. This is followed by detailing the “I’m V-Kool” badge, which also had dried polish residue.
Meguiar’s Last Touch and Triple Duty Brush was very helpful and removed them with ease.
Then Meguiar’s #21 Synthetic Sealant(M21) is applied via ROB and a W-9006 Finishing Pad. While waiting for it to dry, the interior is detailed
• Vacuumed
• Plastics and vinyl wiped down with Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer
• Glass cleaned with Detailer line Glass Cleaner Concentrate
• Door jambs wiped down and waxed with M21
• Pedals cleaned with APC
M21 is then buffed off, while allowing the solvents to evaporate a little bit more, the tyre valve caps were cleaned because they had *yup you guessed it!* dried polish residue on them.
Cleaned with APC(10:1) and the Triple Duty Brush.
Meguiar’s #16 Professional Paste Wax applied by hand.
Plastic trim dressed with Meguiar’s #40 Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner & Conditioner.
Wheels waxed with M21.
Tires and wheel wells dressed with Meguiar’s Hyper Dressing(2:1).
Tail pipes polished with Meguiar’s NXT All Metal Polysh..
Afters
Pardon the dripping Hyper Dressing. ><”
