This car belongs to a friend of mine, and came to seek my assistance for some scratches on his Bonnet. He says it has been resprayed 3 times due to bubbling and runs. HE said the bodyshop polished it, but the scratches also cannot come out.
So I asked him to bring it to me to see what can be done.
Here it is after wiping the bonnet down with Meguiar's Last Touch spray detailer.
Initially I thought this would be a piece of cake, just give it a couple of passes of Meguiar's #83 Dual-Action Cleaner/Polish and I'll be done in no time.
But nooo.... the paint was hard and the defects didn't come off easy at all, I limit myself to 4 passes of Meguiar's #85 Diamond Cut Compound 2.0 with a wool pad. Mostly did 3 passes, and yet quite alot of defects remained there and didn't really satisfy me as it wasn't perfect.
The scratches also seem to follow a certain direction, my friend suspects it is sanding marks and I think so too as it had bubbles before this and he sent the car back to the bodyshop to rectify the problem. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to remove their sanding marks?
(just an assumption)
So after the compounding step, I finished off with Menzerna 106FF and a W-9006 finishing pad. Sealed with Meguiar #21 Synthetic Sealant followed by FK1 Pink Wax.
Here is the owner buffing off the wax.
And the afters, about 70% of the scratches were removed.
And an unknown defect.
p.s The cost for respraying the bonnet was RM150

This car is a 2-year old Perodua Myvi in Mocha Silver colour(metallic). Detail started by washing the engine bay. Some before pictures.
This is my first time washing an engine so I took precaution to cover any wirings with aluminium foil. The alternator was all the way down there, so couldn’t cover that.
Engine bay is firstly rinsed with the pressure washer, then sprayed on Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner through a foaming head, agitated with various brushes and pressure washed off.
Adhesive residue removed with Ambersil’s Tar Remover
Rubber hoses and plastic dressed with Meguiar’s #40 Rubber/Vinyl Cleaner & Conditioner. Painted surfaces waxed with Meguiar’s #21 Synthetic Sealant.
The exterior of the car was only slightly dirty. Wheel wells were quite dirty and there was tar on the wheels and side underbody that the owner wanted removed.
Wheel wells washed with Meguiar’s Super Degreaser, agitated and pressure washed off. You can see below the white super degreaser foam turns brown almost instantly. Wheel cleaned with Meguiar’s Wheel Brightener.
Dirt being washed off from the wheel wells. Tar is removed by spraying on Ambersil’s Tar Remover, let it sit and then wiped off with a cloth.
Result.
Then, the car is washed with Shampoo Plus(two bucket method) and clayed with Perma Glass No.2 Clay using diluted shampoo plus as clay lube.
This is followed by tar removal using Ambersil’s Tar Remover.
Amount of tar removed,
Car is rewashed and dried using Meguiar’s Last Touch and a big microfiber towel.
I also want to share that this car belongs to the same owner of the Audi A4, he is a person who has a passion for cars and cares for his own cars, the finish on this Myvi is near flawless, furthermore, it is 2 years old! Just to show what regular and proper washing can achieve.
I initially planned to give the whole car with only a pass of Optimum Polish coupled with a Meguiar’s W-9006 finishing pad, but this combo was too light to remove any defects.
Next combo was Meguiar’s #80 Speed Glaze and W-8006 polishing pad. Still wasn’t aggressive enough.
And stepped up to Meguiar’s #83 Dual-Action Cleaner/Polish with W-8006 polishing pad @ 600 rpms. About 75% of the car was polished with this combo as I did not want to polish over the areas without any scratches.
This is then followed by Optimum Polish with a Meguiar’s W-9006 finishing pad to remove holograms/buffer marks.
Some of the befores and afters of the scratched areas.

Headlamp is machine polished with PlastX. After 4 passes, the scratches is less noticeable except for the long one.
Couldn’t get all the tar off from the very back of the wheel. Gotta make a MF on a stick soon :P
The car is sealed with Meguiar’s #21 Synthetic Sealant and waxed with FK1’s Pink Wax. M21 applied to the wheels, tires dressed with Meguiar’s Hot Shine and wheel well plastics dressed with Meguiar’s #40 Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner & Conditioner
Sorry for the lousy after pics, finished too late the day before to take nice evening shots.
Thanks for looking!
On a side note: Have recently purchased Menzerna 106FF, stay tuned to see it in action on the next detail. Which won’t be soon as my extra classes start next week and soonest would be some time in January.
Thanks to those who still continue to check back to my site, I appreciate it a lot.
